Flashtoons

Their
popularity increasing rapidly, short animated films
made using Flash have recently extended the horizon
for the evolution of figurative arts in this
technological era, thanks also to the contribution -
in Italy - of experienced artists like Bruno
Bozzetto. With its eye-catching graphics, Flashtoons
is a website for computer-generated animation that
sets out to collect the work of artists from all
over the world, with particular attention to those
who use Flash and Director, currently two of the
most popular graphics programming languages. As well
as major international names, the site offers
visitors the opportunity to acquaint themselves with
some of the most interesting names on the thriving
Italian scene. At the same time, it emphasizes the
importance of not underestimating other disciplines
connected to this new art form, devoting ample
sections to cinema and comic strips. |

Perhaps
Italy's most famous animated cartoon artist,
Bruno Bozzetto was born in Milan in 1938 and at
just twenty years of age made his first short
film. Subsequently responsible for numerous
projects in the field of animation, Bozzetto
became famous thanks to the success of three
remarkable films: "West and
Soda"(1965), "Vip mio fratello
superuomo" (1968) and "Allegro non
troppo" (1976). The official website
pays tribute to the work and career of the
artist, offering a detailed biography and
tracing the most significant events with
pictures, documents and film clips: particularly
worth looking at is the section devoted to his
relationship with new technology, which offers
visitors some important short films made in
Flash.
