In

the
environment's
natural
resources,
working
the
length

breadth
of the
country.
With
over one

this
association
uses its

for
bulletins
and
documents
relating
to its
various
initiatives,
also
publishing
the
results.
With ten
different
sections,

Osservatorio
sui Balcani
|
Brought
to its knees
by ten years
of war, the
Balkans has
encountered
(and indeed
continues to
encounter)
impossible
obstacles on
the path
toward
rebuilding
social and
economic
conditions.
The crisis,
although not
immediately
discernible
from public
opinion,
ends up
affecting
the rest of
the
continent. Osservatorio
sui Balcani
is an
initiative
that sets
out to
heighten
awareness of
the problems
in the
Balkans,
promoting
more rapid
development
of
South-Eastern
Europe. It
works side
by side with
non-government
organizations,
journalists
and, above
all, a
scientific
committee
that
includes
some leading
international
authorities
on Balkan
affairs.
Projects
undertaken
include, "Danubio,
l'Europa
s'incontra:
a journey
from Vienna
to Belgrade
sailing
along the
wonderful
river
through a
fragmented
Europe, a
no-man's
land which
over nine
days will
host
concerts,
round tables
and various
other
initiatives. |

The
National Museum of
Science and Technology "Leonardo da
Vinci"
|
The
National Museum of
Science and Technology "Leonardo da
Vinci" in Milan is one of the most
important technical and scientific museums in the
world, with an immense collection of 15,000 items
ranging from information science to motors and
astronomy. The wealth of information provided and
the care with which the site has been created make
it an irresistible invitation to visit the real
museum. Its pride and joy is the Virtual Leonardo
section, a real 3D “digital section” of the
Museum, dedicated to Da Vinci’s
machines. Visitors
to this virtual museum can go round the rooms and
the cloisters, walking or flying, operate Da
Vinci’s machines, see the other visitors, follow
their movements and chat with them. Virtual Leonardo
promises to be a new way of browsing a site,
visiting a virtual museum where you can meet people
from all over the world. |

Italian
Jazz
Musicians
|
A
site specially
constructed to
contain complete
and detailed
information on
the Jazz scene
in Italy.
Even a
quick glance at
the archive
gives an idea of
the scope of
this project,
although its
simple and
essential
graphics may
initially lead
the visitor to
underestimate it:
over one hundred
artistes,
including famous
names (Gatto,
Rea, Fresu,
Pietropaoli, the
late Urbani) and
amateurs (Manzi,
Bellatella,
Ciancaglini),
all treated with
the same
meticulous care
in compiling the
individual
charts, which
offer detailed
profiles,
exhaustive
discographies
and links for
buying the
respective works.
To make
the venture even
more tempting,
there is also a
section that
publishes scores
and another
large page of
detailed
interviews.

Literary
Parks
|
The
idea of Literary
Parks comes
from an
initiative of
association
President
Stanislao Nievo,
the aim being to
retrace the life
and creative
development of
great Italian
literary figures
through the
places and
environments
that shaped them,
exploring the
atmospheres that
conditioned them
and their
writing. For
this reason, the
parks do not
correspond to
one particular
area only, but
include
different places
and areas. Found
in all the main
Regions of Italy,
a good place to
start a visit to
the literary
parks is the official
website,
which describes
in detail the
thematic
itineraries for
each area |

Pagine
Corsare
|
Pagine
Corsare is an interesting site that examines all
the aspects and themes of the work of Pier Paolo
Pasolini, one of the greatest and most controversial
figures of the 20th century in Italy. Its pages,
edited by Angela Molteni, contain very detailed
information on his life and artistic creations, with
reference both to his writings and his films.
However, the idea is not to create an archive, but
rather an area of reflection and comparison.

Ciao
Napoli
|
“Our
aim is to catch the imaginations of more and more
people throughout the world…”
explains Giovanni Ascione, who together with
Annamaria Di Rosa and Silvana Cutulo, is the brains
behind the site Ciao
Napoli. And - it has to be admitted - this aim
seems to be within their grasp. Old Neapolitan songs,
the history of famous characters, "lotto"
trivia and typical recipes from the Campania region
capture the visitor's attention; while magnificent
photos of the various districts of Naples not to mention of neighbouring areas
stir interest, making
visitors to the site eager to see this beautiful
city in person. |
