Vincenzo Consolo

Biography of Vincenzo Consolo

Vincenzo Consolo was born in Sant’Agata di Militello in 1933 and now lives and works in Milan. He made his debut in 1963 with the novel "La ferita dell’aprile" (Mondadori), but came to wider public notice with "Il sorriso dell’ignoto marinaio (The Smile of the Unknown Mariner)" (Einaudi 1976 – Mondadori 1997). His most recent books are "Lunaria" (Einaudi 1985 – Mondadori 1996), "Retablo" (Sellerio 1987 – Mondadori 1992), "Le pietre di Pantalica" (Mondadori 1989), "Nottetempo, Casa per casa" (Mondadori, 1992; Premio Strega 1992) and "L’olivo e l’olivastro" (Mondadori 1994; Premio Internazionale Unione Latina 1994).
