Italian Cinema Divas. Great Italian actresses in the photographs and posters of the Fondazione Prolo

Thirty-five photo murals and thirty-seven film posters recount the Italian stars, from the dawn of movies until to the present day. The exhibition "Italian Cinema Divas", prepared in the suggestive setting of the Temple Hall of the National Museum of Cinema in Turin, offers an historic course through Italian cinema, with the images of countless celebrities. From the unforgettable faces of actresses of the 1940's and 1950's, to those of today's film stars: from the silent movie star Francesca Bertini to Giovanna Mezzogiorno, via the photos of Pina Menichelli, Lyda Borelli, Luisa Ferida, Doris Duranti, Assia Noris, Clara Calamai, Yvonne Sanson, Gina Lollobrigida, Sophia Loren, Lea Massari, Monica Vitti, Stefania Sandrelli, Margherita Buy, Francesca Neri, Ornella Muti and many others. These icons of femininity and beauty fill the Hall and appear on three plasma video screens, on which films are shown in a continuous cycle with  sequences from the films they appeared in. On the spiral stairs of the Museum are the original posters of some of the most famous Italian films. The exhibition was prepared by the National Museum of Cinema in March 2002 - on the occasion of the Night of the Oscars of the same year - for Italian Cinema Day, an event celebrating Italian cinema, which was a big success.
