Informations
Italica was established in 1996 as portal for the Rai International channel (presently Rai Internazionale) with the institutional objective of spreading and promoting the Italian language and culture even over the Internet. It was conceived for Italians living abroad for education or employment reasons, and for those whose roots stem in our country; over the course of time the Italica Website has become an online reference for all those who are interested in the culture of the “Belpaese”.
The Website has been offering English and Spanish translations of its contents since 2002.
In order to attain its objective of spreading the language, the Website offers a ”Dentro l’Italiano” Language Course available in English, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese; along with the monograph dedicated to the History of the Italian Language.
The Monographs sector, created in collaboration with university teachers and specialists in the field, delves into some of the most significant topics of Italian culture. Over the course of the years, the portal has edited monographs such as Renaissance, Dante, Moments of Italian Cinema, History of Italian Art, Italian Songwriters and Great Writers of the 20th Century. The Topics section, divided into Art, Cinema, Books and Music, envisages wide-reaching discussions on new publications, films, music and the major exhibitions dedicated to Italian leading figures.
The Archives provide access at any time to over 40,000 pages, 30,000 images and 200 videos belonging to the Teche Rai archives. The search engine also gives easy access to all the information published within the Website.
One can view and listen to the Rai Italia Tv and Rai Italia Radio programmes on-line by clicking on the Multimedia section, in addition to consulting the Teche Rai Website.
The Italica Website is updated constantly and informs its subscribers about the new articles through its weekly Newsletter. Moreover, one can also receive all the news published on a daily basis by registering with Italica’s Feed Rss service.
Access to all the services is free of charge.
